Hiding behind a shield

Scary little monsters
Hiding in the dark
Tiny little doggie
Such a great big bark

Hopeless little flowers
Dying in the shade
Hateful 16 year old boy
And the slicing of his blade

Creepy little bed bugs
Crawling on my skin
Faithless little nuns and priests
Living in there sin

Tiny little pile of dirt
Walked over on the ground
Showy little teenage girl
Weighing just one tiny pound

Sloppy little babies
Spilling every meal
Tiny little furry squirrel
Tiny little squeal

Senseless little meaning
All of this has had
Such a small effect it’s had
Not enough to make me mad

Tiny little minnows
Swimming in a stream
Nothing is ever as it seems
Life is but a dream

Sitting here alone beside the candle light
And thinking back to that not so distant night
When I lost my grip which was too tight

Its hard to recall that certain pain
Which tightens knots inside your brain
And brings on that certain special strain
Like being locked out in the freezing rain

Its been so long since I’ve seen your face
And new found images cannot replace
This new found evidence won’t close the case
And I still miss my corner of that special place

Its all been said and its all been done
In my dark world you were my sun
But all you wanted was to have some fun
Which you seemed to have found in everyone

Driving past your gravel road
I feel the weight of your heavy load
When you left me out in the freezing cold
When our sturdy floor of boards had bowed

Will you continue to remember me
And one day will you finally see
That you and I are meant to be
And only I hold the fitting key

Its been so long though there still is hope
I’ve met someone new and learned to cope
And I’ve cleansed my heart with mental soap
And I’m out of your noose, I’ve cut the rope

I feel unsettled though as time goes by
And sometimes it even hurts enough to cry
And sometimes I consider that I should try
To make you regret you ever said goodbye

I paint a new life with each stroke of the brush
Never again will I be so needy of a crutch
Though we may never be and I loved you too much

Trying to push through

To even begin to convince you

And when it comes down to making love
I will loose all the cards from my hand
You will retreat and leave me confused and alone
And your false morality will take its stand

But in a similar situation with a guy who is blunt
Who is cold, distant and untrue
This is the filthy pig you let in your arms
And spend the night with you

You reach into them and find something to love
You look at me and turn away
He holds back emotions and I let mine show
But you don’t believe anything I say

These same girls that dream of a man

I found that death was my best friend

Dark because they’re was no sun
Dead that day my life was done
That day I felt the pain explode
Destined to die I couldn’t handle the load

I knew I would break free out of my shell

Bright was not that dreadful day
